MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Indie rock musician and native Memphian Walt Phelan is out with a new album – You, Mountain – from Red Curtain Records, available now on colored vinyl and streaming, with records shipping September (2025).
You, Mountain is indie rock with a vulnerable side. The raw, emotive lyrics – born out of heartbreak and loss – intertwine with full, infectious melodies that propel the listener forward.
With the innate musicality of an artist who grew up in a melting pot of musical influences, Phelan weaves together folk, rock and pop sensibilities to create songs that speak to the dichotomy of navigating tough times – raw but dancy, introspective but breezy.
“It’s a therapeutic album,” said Phelan. “I’m proud to have recorded it and show that you can go through something and come out on the other side.”
The album took three years to complete, and Phelan is proud of the result.
“If at least one person connects to what I’m saying, I’ll be happy,” he said.
Phelan and his band will showcase the album during a East coast tour Spring 2026, with additional dates to come.
